Responsibilities include managing high-level projects, writing protocols, and leading others within the Analytical Chemistry group. Duties also include generating business by meeting with clients and designing tailored approaches to solve client issues.Qualified individuals should have a minimum of a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in solid-state analysis in the pharmaceutical industry. Must be able to innovatively handle multiple projects and have strong leadership abilities.
This position is for a bench chemist in the chemistry group working on the solid-state characterization of drug substances. The position holder will should have experience in the areas of polymorphism and salt screening in pharmaceutical systems as well as an understanding of mechanisms behind the formation and interconversion of amorphous and crystalline forms in pharmaceutical systems. Areas of focus associated with the solid state characterization include the utilization of a range of solid-state characterization techniques (XRPD, DSC, TGA, TGA-IR and optical microscopy, etc.) to analyze and understand the solid-state behavior. Additional areas include: bench crystallization studies, polymorphism screening, salt screening, cocrystal screening, crystal form isolation, crystallization kinetic studies. The position holder should have excellent communication and scientific report writing skills.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements: The position holder should possess a B.S./M.S. in the areas of general chemistry, physical chemistry, materials science or a related field with at least three years relevant experience in the area of solid-state analysis.
Knowledge/Skills Needed: Strong scientific managerial experience as well as a strong background in pharmaceutical, organic or physical chemistry, with experience in GMP. A good knowledge of several of the following characterization methods is desired: DSC, TGA, TGA-IR, XRPD, vapor sorption analysis, solubility analysis. Excellent communication and writing skills are also desired.
This position is for a Scientist to conduct experimentation using our state-of-the-art Symyx robot.
Job duties include:
- Runs the automated pipetting system (Symyx) to perform polymorph, salt selection, and cocrystal screens.
- Customizes the software and workflows to produce the most cost effective experimental design while meeting scientific objectives.
- Becomes an expert on the system and conceptualizes enhancements to the system to increase cost effectiveness and improve the quality of the data from the samples.
Basic requirements:
- B.S. in Chemistry or related field.
- Must be capable of deducing the function and syntax of software commands and be capable of modifying software to customize workflows to the needs of the clients.
- 3-5 years of progressive technical experience with liquid handling robots, including optimizing liquid handling techniques, and managing new applications for robotic liquid handlers.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and communicate effectively with the vendor's support team to resolve problems. Must perform maintenance on the robotic pipettor.
- Experience in a cGMP environment is desired.
